Regional Workshop for Advanced Training on the WAHIS for National FP for Animal Disease Notification

The Regional Workshop for advanced training on the World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) for National Focal Points for Animal Disease Notification to the OIE was held in the city of Panamá, Panamá, from 6th to 8th September 2016.

The Head of the World Animal Health Information and Analysis Department (WAHIAD), Dr Paula Caceres Soto as well as other staff from the Department acted as speakers and facilitators. In addition, the Regional Representative for the Americas, Dr Luis Barcos and staff from the Regional Representation participated in the workshop.

National Focal Points from 29 Member Countries attended the meeting, including a participant from Cayman Islands (as an overseas territory from a Member Country) as well as the Delegate and National Focal Point from Guyana. Two observers from the Iowa University OIE Collaborating Centre attended the meeting as observers.

Participants fulfilled their expectations after having the opportunity to interact directly with the WAHIAD staff, as well as networking with other National Focal Points from the región.
