OIE Webinar “Global Wildlife Health”

Connecting wildlife health stakeholders globally

World Wildlife Day was celebrated on 3rd March.  The aim of this day is to raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. This year, the regional representations of the OIE organised a webinar to connect wildlife health stakeholders globally.

The webinar counted with the participation of over 350 people and was held in two sessions—eastern hemisphere and western hemisphere—and in the three official OIE languages (English, French and Spanish).

Dr. Jane Goodall, Founder, Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted: The OIE Wildlife Health Framework, is working within the human-animal-ecosystem interface, to study animal pathogens, detect and manage wildlife disease and share information with the relevant people in an effort to reduce the risk of future spill overs to humans.

After her remarks, OIE representatives presented the key actions carried out by the organization in wildlife. Then, experts from all the regions presented on different diseases that can affect wildlife such as African swine fever, Peste des petits ruminants (PPR), rabies, anthrax, and the White nose syndrome.

In the event’s agenda you will find the link to all presentations. Also, you can watch this seminar again on YouTube:
