OIE Annual report on the use of antimicrobial agents in animals

In the framework of the Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, adopted by WHO Member States in May 2015, the OIE, supported by FAO and WHO within the tripartite collaboration, has taken the lead to build a global database on the use of antimicrobial agents in animals. The OIE’s partners acknowledge this accomplishment as a major milestone in the global effort to contain antimicrobial resistance.

Following the first round of data collection, we are pleased to inform that the first Annual report on the use of antimicrobial agents in animals: Better understanding of the Global Situation for 2016 is now available for download. The Spanish version will be available soon. The project is currently in the second phase of data collection.

In this way, it is demonstrate that National Veterinary Services are key contributors for the global challenge of managing antimicrobial resistance.
